THE USE OF AUTOMATED LEARNING SYSTEM IN THE LEARNING PROCESS TO DEVELOP FOREIGH LANGUAGE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES FOR FUTURE ENGINEERS

Abstract

The vocational education system in Ukraine was formed and developed under a state political system that differs fundamentally from the one that exists today. The issue of modernising the tiered vocational education system taking into account the socio-economic changes taking place in the country has become pressing. The introduction of new educational standards for higher education in Ukraine based on a competence-based approach is aimed at solving this problem by modernising the content and technologies of higher engineering and technical education. The need to train highly qualified engineering personnel requires the engineering education system to create the conditions conducive to the development of engineers capable of solving innovative development tasks. A significant place is given to foreign languages. The academic discipline develops specialised foreign language skills, including reading, speaking, listening and writing skills necessary for communication, working with professional information and functioning fully in a professional environment. It is proven that ALS is an integrative complex consisting of material, technical, didactic and electronic information and educational components aimed at developing the foreign language in professional competencies of future engineers. The structure of professional competencies of future engineers is described representing a set of components: motivationalvalue, cognitive, activity-based, and reflective-goal-oriented. It is characterised the importance of training engineers with foreign language professional competence in the conditions of the ALS. The system of principles for organising the educational process is considered and its components are highlighted. It is found that a cloud-oriented electronic educational system (COEES) is an environment that uses cloud computing to organise the educational process, store, process and exchange educational materials via the Internet. It is shown that the use of COEES for accessing Englishlanguage resources helps to develop foreign language professional competence; to master English-language technical terminology; to form skills in working with international standards, databases, scientific articles; and prepare students for participation in global engineering projects.
