Abstract
The prerequisites for the development of the concept of vocational education and training in the context of globalization of the European space are the most developed areas associated with a special type of progressive development of a mature personality – personal and professional development of future specialists. In conditions of unprecedented global competition, rapid development of technologies, global regulatory standards, increasing population mobility and demands for new qualification skills, the introduction of new forms in vocational education and training (VET) are challenges of the modern world. VET is no longer the prerogative of national systems, since international industry organizations, multilateral agencies, transnational corporations – have appeared in this field, respectively, changing the methods of transferring, acquiring and assessing competencies and skills in the vocational training system. The article examines the processes of globalization in vocational education as a key factor in training competitive specialists. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the interaction of educational organizations with enterprises and international cooperation as tools for forming a unified educational environment are analyzed. Our research work presents the results of a comparative study by Cedefop on the impact of globalization on the revision and renewal of vocational education and training (VET) in European countries. The theoretical and analytical basis of the study is built on the assumption that the reaction of the vocational education and training system to globalization is the result of the interaction of three factors. The article presents the positions of European scientists who assess the globalization of vocational education and training, which promotes the free exchange of information between teachers and students of vocational education institutions, as well as with other educational institutions of different countries, the creation of joint specialized training programs, and globalization is the universalization of the educational process. The article examines the arguments underlying the great prospects for the development of vocational education and training as a universal tool for many social problems, and also proposes a number of alternative measures that would make vocational education and training more relevant to the world of work and increase its effectiveness for society.
