DEVELOPING DIGITAL COMPETENCE IN STUDENTS OF SPECIALITY 029 ‘INFORMATION, LIBRARY AND ARCHIVAL SCIENCE’ IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITISATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTARY ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

In the course of the study, the authors defined the concept of digital competence and substantiated its content in the context of professional training of students majoring in 029 ‘Information, Library and Archival Studies’. Digital competence is considered as an integrative characteristic of a personality that combines information and analytical, technological, communication, legal and ethical components and ensures the ability to function effectively in the modern information and document environment. The relevance of the study is determined by the processes of digitalisation of society, the transformation of library and archival activities, the introduction of electronic document management, digital archives, automated library systems and cloud services. The rapid development of information and communication technologies requires updating the content of professional training, developing practical skills in working with digital tools, databases, metadata systems, and information storage technologies. In the course of the study, we tried to make the most of the potential of comprehensive, informational, competency-based, and systematic scientific approaches. Their combination allows for a comprehensive analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, regulatory and legal documents, and international recommendations in the field of digital education, as well as the identification of pedagogical conditions for the formation of digital competence in future information industry specialists. The results of the study showed that effective development of digital competence is possible if digital technologies are integrated into all components of the educational process. The need to develop a culture of information security, adhere to the principles of academic integrity, and develop critical thinking in the digital environment was substantiated. The pedagogical conditions for the formation of digital competence are highlighted, in particular the practical orientation of education, internships in digital archives, libraries, information centres, the development of project-oriented learning, and interdisciplinary training.
