PRIMARY SCHOOLCHILDREN’S CRITICAL THINKING DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE CIVIC AND HISTORICAL EDUCATIONAL DOMAIN CONTENT: PRACTICAL ASPECT

Abstract

It is noted that the preparation of future teachers for the formation of students’ critical thinking must meet the requirements of modern primary education, which are defined in the concept of «New Ukrainian school. Conceptual principles of secondary school reform» (2016), the Law of Ukraine «On Education» (2017), the State Standard of Primary General Education (2018), the Law of Ukraine «On Complete General Secondary Education» (2020). It is determined that today it is important to find out the essence and ways of introducing critical thinking in practical discourse, to which a lot of scientific research is devoted. The purpose of the article is to show through the prism of practical exercises the peculiarities of the formation of critical thinking in primary school students in the context of studying civic and historical education in the integrated course «I explore the world». The article provides examples of specific exercises for the formation of critical thinking in primary school students in the study of civic and historical education in the integrated course «I explore the world». The authors identify the features and the need for practical use of critical thinking technology in primary school as an integral part of successful personality development. As a result of the analysis, it was formulated that interactive methods and technologies in the context of reforming the modern education system should have significant advantages over traditional ones, and therefore they need to be implemented and developed. The method of conducting the lesson of the integrated course «I explore the world» in civic and historical education in the technology of critical thinking depends on its subject content and didactic tasks, the type of lesson that should be considered by the teacher.
