Abstract

The urgency of the problem declared in the title of the article is due to the attention of modern Ukrainian pedagogy to the problem of health of children and youth, the implementation of education and upbringing to nurture a culture of health. It is concluded that the level of research by domestic scientists on positive foreign experience in this context is insufficient. It was announced that in 1993 Barbara Voinarovska (pol. Barbara Woynarowska), Mariia Sokolovska (pol. Maria Sokołowska), Mariia Shymanska (pol. Maria Szymańska) and Mariia Polturak (pol. Maria Półtorak) within the School of Health Promotion the first polish version of the educational curriculum was developed, which was called “Health-preserving education at school”. The program represented the content of relevant education for three groups of classes (I‒III classes; IV‒VI classes; VII‒VIII classes) of basic schools and for super‑basic secondary schools of the Republic of Poland. The publication covers the content of the program for primary (I‒III) classes, which was placed in the program within 7 thematic blocks, namely: “Personal hygiene and environment”, “Safety”, “Food and nutrition”, “Physical activity”, “Education for family life and psychological and environmental aspects of health education”, “Sex education”, “Prevention of bad habits”. The content of the program was divided into two conditional parts: A ‒ “what the student should know and understand”; B ‒ “what a student should be able to”, therefore, the program predicted the expected learning outcomes of students. It is concluded about the potential of the curriculum to form in students a caring attitude to their own health and the desire to follow a healthy lifestyle, to form in students the ability to express themselves creatively and critically in the appropriate dimension.
