Abstract

The article deals with the problem of teachers’ digital competences formation during such crises as COVID-19 and war in Ukraine. The forced transition to distance learning caused transformations in the educational process, to which teachers must certainly adapt. After all, the formation of motivation and creation of conditions for their training and selfdevelopment in the course of professional activity, modernization of the content, forms, methods and technologies of learning at all levels of education meet the requirements of an information civil multicultural society. The digital competences of the teacher acquire a new meaning – this is the need for improvement, deepening of knowledge, mastering of modern effective technologies, updating the content of education, and communication in the teacherstudent system. The authors considered the requirements and responsibilities of the teacher and developed several questionnaires designed in Google-forms. This option was the simplest and the most convenient from the point of view of potential respondents. About 130 teachers and lecturers from various educational institutions – from school to higher institutions – participated in the survey. In fact, the surveys were conducted during All-Ukrainian conferences and master classes. The survey has shown that the majority of teachers are confident in redistributing forms of education and the overwhelming majority believe that blended learning will prevail. The factors that encouraged teachers to improve their digital competences were presented in the second survey. Respondents indicated increased funding, intrinsic motivation, and prospects for their future in the profession (theory and practice of teaching) as the most critical factors for them. All of these can be explained by the fact that many teachers left the territory they had been living in or even moved abroad during the war. Therefore, people’s understanding that they are needed, and that their profession has a significant contribution and value to the state motivates them to seek different methods for digital learning, self-development, self-improvement, and thus, to search for those digital platforms and learning tools that are relevant at the moment.
