Abstract

The publication highlights the importance and describes the concepts of project-based learning, mainly complexes of didactic conditions of project-based learning are studied, the effective features of the teacher to build relationships between the participants in the dyad “subject – subject” are considered. The purpose of the article is to analyse the didactic conditions of project-based English learning in higher education institutions. The pedagogical experiment is described and the problems in project work organization of Foreign Philology Faculty students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University are singled out. The results of the conducted experiment showed positive dynamics in the formation of students’ speech competence by means of project-based English learning in experimental groups. Important characteristics of the study material as a didactic unit that activates foreign language learning process are outlined. The importance of project-based learning is investigated. The work contains an overview of important characteristics of educational material as a didactic unit. The set of didactic conditions describes the factors that influence the process effectiveness of project-based training of university students in English learning classroom. Educational projects, focused on the independent activities of students (individual, group or collective), which students perform during a certain period of time, are designed to promote foreign languages learning efficiency. It is established that the method of projects uses the ideas of traditional and modern methods of foreign language teaching: diversity, which is manifested in the variability of topics, types of texts and exercises; learning problems, when a foreign language is used to perform tasks with novelty; learning with pleasure, which provides students with the opportunity to talk about what іs of increased interest to them, to show their creative approach in project arrangement and presentation.
