Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of nonverbal representation of the concept of RESILIENCE in Ukrainian military-political discourse that emerged after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. The analysis is based on an interdisciplinary approach that combines multimodal critical discourse analysis, interpretation of visual narratives, and elements of sociosemiotics. Particular attention is paid to how nonverbal components such as images, symbols, gestures, color codes, and the architectonics of visual messages shape the framework of identification and entrench the idea of resilience as a basic characteristic of the collective Ukrainian experience.
The article examines the role of strategic framing in the media environment, in particular how various mass media sources construct an image of invincibility through visual patterns, symbolic oppositions, and emotionally marked representations. The transnational dimension of the spread of visual support for Ukraine is analyzed separately, demonstrating the ability of multimodal symbols to transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries.
In addition, the article substantiates the role of nonverbal means as key mechanisms for mobilizing public emotions and constructing collective subjectivity in conditions of military threat. Particular attention is paid to how gestures, body postures, visual metaphors, and symbolic spatial structures are integrated into military-political discourse and transform the abstract concept of RESILIENCE into an emotionally charged and easily recognizable image accessible to a mass audience. This approach allows us to trace how visual rhetoric contributes to the formation of a common national memory, strengthens the sense of solidarity, and supports the psychological resilience of the population, as well as how these processes occur in interaction with global media flows.
